Why Source Handicrafts from Nepal?

Nepal is one of the world's richest sources of authentic handmade products, with centuries-old craft traditions and a thriving artisan community.

Fair Trade Practices

Our artisan partners receive fair wages that support their families and communities. Many workshops are run by women's cooperatives, providing economic independence and empowerment in rural Nepal. Every purchase supports sustainable livelihoods.

Unique Craftsmanship

Nepali handicrafts are made using techniques that cannot be replicated by machines — hand-hammered singing bowls, mineral-pigment thangka paintings, lost-wax cast bronze statues. Each piece is genuinely unique, with the subtle variations that prove authentic handwork.

Competitive Pricing

Direct sourcing from Kathmandu workshops eliminates multiple layers of middlemen. Combined with Nepal's competitive labor costs and trade preference programs (duty-free access to EU, US GSP), you get exceptional handmade products at prices that allow healthy retail margins.

Centuries-Old Traditions

Nepal's craft traditions span millennia — Patan's metalworkers have been casting bronze since the 3rd century, pashmina weaving dates to the 15th century, and Lokta papermaking has been documented for over 1,000 years. When you source from Nepal, you are connecting your customers to living history.

What Our Buyers Say

Trusted by boutique retailers, yoga studios, gift shops, and fair trade stores worldwide.

“I have been practicing sound healing for twelve years and the bowls from Nepal Singing Bowls are the finest I have ever played. The 7-bowl chakra set has incredible tonal accuracy and the overtone richness is remarkable. My clients notice the difference immediately during sessions. The team helped me select bowls by sound recordings before shipping — that level of service is unmatched.”

Our sound bath sessions are now fully booked weeks in advance. Nepal Singing Bowls provided excellent guidance on sizes and notes for our space, and shipping to Austria was faster than expected.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to the most common questions about sourcing Nepali handicrafts for your business.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between hand-hammered and machine-made singing bowls?
Hand-hammered bowls are shaped by teams of artisans using 2,000-5,000 individual hammer strikes, producing complex overtones and a warmer, layered sound. Machine-made (cast) bowls are poured into molds — they are uniform and cheaper but produce a simpler, single-tone ring. Hand-hammered bowls show visible hammer marks and have slight wall thickness variations that create their characteristic rich resonance.
Are the bowls really made from seven metals?
Traditional Nepali singing bowls use an alloy of seven metals: gold (Sun), silver (Moon), mercury (Mercury), copper (Venus), iron (Mars), tin (Jupiter), and zinc (Saturn). Copper forms roughly 70-80% of the alloy, with tin as the secondary metal. The trace metals are added in small amounts but contribute to acoustic complexity. We provide metal composition certificates on request.
What is the minimum order quantity for wholesale?
Standard MOQ is 20 pieces per size for hand-hammered bowls, 10 pieces for Full Moon bowls, and 5 sets for chakra-tuned collections. Tingshas start at 50 pairs. For first-time buyers, we offer sample packs of 3-5 bowls at retail pricing. Sample costs are credited against your first wholesale order.
Can I order bowls tuned to specific notes?
Yes, we offer chakra-tuned bowls and sets. Each bowl is tuned to correspond to one of the seven chakras — C (root), D (sacral), E (solar plexus), F (heart), G (throat), A (third eye), B (crown). Custom tuning requires additional time (4-6 weeks) and carries a small premium due to the precision involved in achieving accurate pitch through hand-hammering.
How do you ship singing bowls safely?
Each bowl is individually wrapped in bubble wrap and cushioned in reinforced cartons. Strikers and cushions are packed separately to prevent scratching. We use double-wall corrugated boxes for international shipping. Breakage rate is under 0.5% — and we replace any bowl damaged in transit at no charge. We ship via DHL and FedEx for samples, and sea freight for wholesale orders.
